They continually work to provide an environment and experiences to help people build
memories. From fundraisers on the green, to hosting Thanksgiving dinners, to Halloween hayrides, and brunch with Santa, Bookcliff Country Club creates a place for people to come together as a community and create ever-lasting memories.
The club was first started in 1957 with a membership base of 20. Over the years the club house grew and became a patch work from the needs of the club members. In 2008, the old club house was taken down and a completely new house was constructed. “Many of the longtime members miss the old club house,” explains Mike Fleig, the Club’s general Manager. Despite a case of nostalgia, members now enjoy breath-taking views of the course and the Bookcliffs from the balcony, more contemporary and finer finishes, meeting rooms and a large bar and dining room area.
With 25 years in the member supported private club industry and working across the country, Fleig says that Grand Junction has a certain quality of life in which people want to know about each other and care for one another. The pace of life in Western Colorado
allows for a greater quality of life; one that is reflected at the club. With a broad spectrum of demographics represented at the club, there is a something for any age group to enjoy. Members range from young families to a group affectionately named the “Aging Aquarius.”
Bookcliff Country Club continually seeks feedback from members and the community to improve so they can continue providing an environment for people to create memories and meet and exceed expectations. Based upon feedback, the menu has expanded to offer more casual offerings and focused on lower price points.
Recently the golf course has seen significant improvements, and more are to come. After listening to members, they learned that the course was too challenging for some players. Members asked and they delivered. Next year the course will have more shortened options. They are shortening some of the course and building additional T-boxes to make for a more enjoyable experience for the community. They strive to have an enjoyable experience for
players; not one that is frustrating.
After we sat down for the interview, a representative from St. Mary’s knocked on the door and Mike handed the man an envelope. I later learned the envelope contained a donation of $4,800. This money was raised in the annual the Battle at Bookcliff tournament. The money raised will specifically help those involved with the Flight for Life unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. Bookcliff Country Club has a strong interest in helping the community and hosts a number a tournaments throughout the year to raise money for many different organizations.
Networks Unlimited is proud to support Bookcliff’s IT needs. We have been a partner for a number of years and have addressed solutions from Wifi to servers. Fleig said that within his 25 years of working for clubs, he has never had a new server rebuild go more smoothly.
